Laganap ang droga sa ating bansa. Sari-saring uri at presyo. May mga gumagamit ng shabu, marijuana, ecstasy at rugby. May nauso ding pag-injection ng Nubain, isang gamot para sa kirot. Mag-ingat tayo na hindi malulong sa droga ang ating mga anak.

Paano malalaman na baka nag-do-droga ang inyong anak?
1. Nag-iiba ang kanyang ugali. Minsan ay napakabait at minsan naman ay nagiging rebelde at iritable.
2. Mag-ingat kung may nawawalan ng pera sa bahay. Baka ginamit na ito pambili ng droga.
3. Bumababa ang grado sa eskuwelahan, o hindi na pumapasok sa school.
4. Nawawalan ng gana kumain at pumapayat.
5. Minsan, namumula ang mata ng addict. Ang itim sa gitna ng mata (pupils) ay lumalaki din.
6. May panahon na blanko ang kanilang tingin (bangag) at nakatitig lang ng matagal sa isang lugar.
7. May araw na hindi nakatutulog ng buong magdamag. May panahon naman na tulog ng tulog ng ilang araw.
8. May komplikasyon ang droga. Puwedeng tumaas ang blood pressure at may mga bata na inaatake din sa puso dahil sa shabu. Ito’y dahil sa biglang nagsasara (spasm) at nagbabara ang ugat nila sa puso.

Paano makaiiwas ang ating anak sa droga?
1. Mula sa edad 10 pataas, pag-usapan na ang isyu ng droga habang nag-ha-hapunan. Huwag nang hintayin ang problema.
2. Maging role model sa mga anak. Huwag manigarilyo at maglasing.
3. Magkaroon ng sapat na oras para sa anak. Alamin kung nasaang lugar ang inyong anak.
4. Kilalanin maigi ang kanilang mga barkada. Isali sila sa sports.
5. Maging mahigpit sa bahay na "walang gagamit ng droga." Susunod sila sa batas na ito kahit nasa party man sila.

Kung sakaling nalulong sa droga ang inyong anak, kumonsulta sa isang doktor. Ang mga psychiatrist at counsellors ang mga espesyalista sa drug addiction. Puwede rin magtungo sa mga drug rehabilitation centers.
Mahirap ang panahon na ito para sa pamilya. Kailangan nating magdasal sa Diyos.
Tandaan: Hindi lang ang bata ang nangangailangan ng pag-unawa. Kundi kailangan din ng pagkalinga ng buong pamilya.
